An organisation have to implement and follow the ISO standards for a minimum of 3 months before getting the ISO certification. So the process would take 3 months plus to complete based on the pace and complexity of implementation.

The validity of ISO certificate last for 3 years. Oranisations have to renew it every 3 years inorder to keep the certification.
There are two to three internal audits and one external audit prior to ISO certification. Internal audits include gap analysis, stage 1 and 2 audits to understand the implementation progress and to provide corrective measures and actions. The internal audits are done by the consultants and Internal Quality Management Team (IQMT) which is a group of employees of the organisation and the external audit is done by the auditor approved by the certification body.
There are surveilance audits on years 2 and 3 of the certification period to ensure the organisation retains the quality as per the ISO standards.
